Jesus Came To Restore You: How To Find Forgiveness With God

When a person falls into sin, the guilt of their actions can keep them from going back to God for help.

There’s an example of this in Matthew 26:14-16, when one of Jesus’ twelve disciples betrayed him in exchange for money.

After doing this, the disciple (named Judas Iscariot) was filled with regret, and ended up comitting suicide. The Bible says in Matthew 27: 3-5:

When Judas, who had betrayed him, saw that Jesus was condemned, he was seized with remorse and returned the thirty pieces of silver to the chief priests and the elders. “I have sinned,” he said, “for I have betrayed innocent blood.”

“What is that to us?” they replied. “That’s your responsibility.”

So Judas threw the money into the temple and left. Then he went away and hanged himself. (NIV)

If we sin, God’s will is not for us to condemn ourselves, but instead to turn to Him and repent. When we turn to God and ask for forgiveness, He washes those sins away and we’re made right with God again.

1 John 1:9 says: If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just and will forgive us our sins and purify us from all unrighteousness.

Are you struggling with guilt because of your sin?

You can ask God to forgive you right now, and pray for Him to wash you clean with the blood of Jesus Christ. Once you’ve done this, you must let go of what you did and believe by faith that God truly forgave you.
