Do Your Friends Lead You Closer To God?
When I first gave my life to Christ, I continued hanging out with my worldly friends for a period of time. I figured that as long as I held to my Christian beliefs it did not matter what my friends were doing.
The truth is, I was wrong in my thinking because those friends did influence me.
Maybe your friends say they believe in God, but ask yourself this—are they living for Him?
Many people say they believe, but it is a person’s obedience to God that counts. Jesus said in John 14:23 that anyone who loves Him will obey His teaching.
The purpose of this is not to condemn others, but it is to protect your relationship with God. You may think you are strong and will not be affected, but spending enough time with someone will cause you to be influenced in some way.
I want to encourage you to pray about your relationships. Ask God to show you which ones are hindering your spiritual progress and pray for God to replace them with Christ-centered friendships.
